HQ is a drop-in center where youth experiencing homelessness encounter authentic relationships and belonging. We are a safe place with the resources youth need to succeed — no strings attached.

HQ will be temporarily closed beginning Monday, March 16, 2020.

We will continue to monitor this unprecedented situation and we are eager to reopen as soon as it is safe to do so. Mel Trotter Ministries: 616-454-8249 (ages 18+)

*Temperature checks are being performed on all staff and guests.  Those with a fever will go to a quarantine area to build a health safety plan with nursing staff.

  • Shelter: Check-In 4:30p to 6pm.  Men enter on Williams St. Women enter on Commerce Ave.  Youth shelter is open.
  • Meals:  Breakfast at 7am.  Dinner at 7:15pm.  
  • Day Center: Open daily 7am to 4pm.

Arbor Circle: 616-451-3001 (ages 10+)

  • 24/7 Crisis Line
  • Emergency shelter for minors

God’s Kitchen:  616-224-0217 

*Meals available at the door, dining area closed

  • Meals Served:  Monday – Saturday: 12:30 to 2:30 pm.  Sunday: 2:30 to 4:00 pm

About HQ

HQ is a drop-in center in Grand Rapids, Michigan for youth between the ages of 14 and 24 who are experiencing unsafe or unstable housing. We believe that everyone should be celebrated for who they are, as they are. At HQ, basic resources are available to youth with no strings attached. We rely on community partners and volunteers to provide critical resources that help break the cycle of homelessness in our community.

For Young People

If you don’t have a safe place you call home, you are not alone. No matter what your situation is, HQ is here for you. If you need a warm shower, a hot meal, or help with school, your job, or anything in between, the caring staff at HQ will support you.

Youth Drop-In Hours

Younger Drop-In (14-19 years of age)

Monday:  2:30pm-4:30pm
Tuesday + Thursday:  4:00pm-6:00pm

Older Drop-In (20-24 yrs of age)

Monday evenings: 5:00pm-8:00pm
Tuesday + Thursday: 12:30pm-3:30pm

Individual Drop-In (14-24 years of age)

Wednesday + Friday: 12:00pm-5:00pm by appointment
