HQ began as a collaborative effort in Grand Rapids, Michigan as our community recognized the unacceptable gaps in connection for runaway and homeless youth.

Breaking the cycle of homelessness would require a safe place where youth could experience belonging and rest as they were connected to housing, counseling, employment and education.

In December of 2014, HQ – a drop-in center for 14 – 24 year old youth experiencing unsafe and unstable housing – opened its doors for youth to take steps toward the safety and a future of their own design.

Located at 320 State St in downtown Grand Rapids, HQ is centrally located to provide easy access for youth from all over the city. And, as collaboration is essential, HQ hosts community partners including counseling and case management professionals, medical services, and employment connections.
